~Affirmative Prayer~

Please know when I use the word "I" that is the inner eye through which we see Spirit and Spirit sees us.
There is always a soft presence within me. I know this presence to be Spirit. With great clarity I know Spirit to be ALL there is. In every situation in my life Spirit has given me a divine gift. I accept the gifts. I know that every thought and action I have brings me to a fuller knowing of the Love and Joy this Life is. I accept this Life setting my intentions to radiate Love to All Beings everywhere. For I know Love is Truly what we are. As I send My Love it always comes back to me in a richer and greater way. Opening my Heart and mind wider with complete surrender, Peace fulfills my Soul. There is great peace in me, In the World, the Peace of Mind from allowing Spirit to express as me, through me. I accept and embrace Peace, I accept and embrace Love, for myself and all Beings. 
With great rejoicing and celebration I give thanks to the Eternal Infinite source of Peace and Love. I release my words into the manifest universe. And so it is.

In  1999 I was chatting on a regular basis in the now defunct SWC.  I had actually visited that chat site off and on from late 1996. So I was getting to know more of the people in the chat room. I found out that a lady who uses the nick name of Sophia Lived in Mendocino Ca. Her and I had quite a few heart to heart chats and we decided we could trust each other to talk via telephone. 

This was a nice thing for me as I was at that time still dealing with that lonely feeling from a divorce of a 20 year marriage that was final in May of 1997. I am not comfortable with bars and night scenes so the net felt comfortable to me. This lady Sophia and I  decided to make a weekend and get together. She then asked me about religion and a spiritual practice. I told her I Believed in a God but the conventional churches I knew and attended were not aiding me in a Spiritual Life. 

She then told me a short version of her church/center and what there vision is. She also found  the same kind of church in a town near me and asked me to please attend a service. So before I took the 350 mile road trip to visit Sophia I went to the Church  in Visalia Ca which is the county seat of Tulare County. That very first service that I attended told me that I had found a Spiritual Organization and 

Philosophy I could grow into. Since then I have attended the Religious Science Center for Positive Living in Ukiah, where Sophia lives. I have not kept a tally on my attendance at Our Center, But I am sure with the extra time I attend mid week and other center events I am over 100%.

Now a little about the Practitioner License. To attain the license a person must first complete Science Of Mind classes series 100 and 200. Science of Mind is our text book authored by Ernest Holmes. He is the founder of Religious Science International. I will call Science of Mind SOM here on out. SOM 100 series is a set of classes on the text book in 4 classes that are 8 weeks each class. SOM 200 is the same duration but the classes are not necessarily taught from the text book. The class for SOM 300 is the Practitioner class and needed for a license. SOM 300 is a one year course. I want to say IT changes your thinking to say the least. Also this class isn't taught from the text book. But with 200 and 300 we do read other books by Ernest Holmes.

After the 300 class in order to gain a license each person who decides to license is required to Treat for clients at no cost. What we did ask is that the client write a verification of demonstration for each treatment and give to the Practitioner Intern. Religious Science International's licensing board requires 3 of these forms for them to view and propose licensing the individual who performed treatment. My Teacher/Minister asked her students of SOM 300 for 10 forms. She then sets with each of us and goes over what we have and if and when we have demonstrated to her our ability to Treat and Manifest for a client she helps us choose 3 forms to send to the Licensing board.

So in a shorter version I have attended about 3 years of classes and then a year of Internship as a Practitioner before I received the License.
My Minister is now the president of Religious Science International and is a life long church member of the Philosophy. Her credentials are great and well deserved. She was also granted a Doctorate of Divinity , she has been ordained for many years and is a wonderful teacher/minister/president/doctor. Dr. Rev. Becket has taught me most of the classes, but our staff Minister Rev. Griffen did catch me up on a few classes since I have become a member of the church.
So to become a practitioner takes Great Teachers with Patience and Love.
